Perth and home

The American accent rings odd in my ears. I get tired of both the Australian and the English accent when I’ve been around them for extended periods (there's just that little effort of translation), but this time even so, hearing American accents going on all around seems sort of wrong.

My sleep schedule is a mess.

Coffee, *my* coffee, fresh ground and fresh brewed first thing in the morning in my house is the finest thing I have ever smelled or tasted and I’m considering founding a new religion based on the associated agape.

Jan – Barefoot Jan, my friend who swings through here once a year - is here. She had to reroute a bit to accommodate that I wasn’t here all of August so I didn’t want to put her off anymore. It’s tough though – hard to make time for her visit with so many things that I am trying to catch up. She is putting up with it well enough. She will head up the West Coast of Florida on Friday.  I'll try to make it up to her next year.
Here are the last two links to photos from my trip. One is from the first day in Perth and one is just odds and ends taken on various days. Not many of them.

Wales - June 2012

Lost my bag on the way TO Manchester, had to run around buying all the components of at least one work outfit. Urght.  Then on the way home my flight was painfully delayed from Atlanta – all this extreme heat is grounding airplanes left and right. Finally got home at 2a. Tony got off work at 11p, got to FLL by about 11:30p and then took a nap in the car until I landed at about 1a. (Thanks, “Tone”.)

After the conference in the UK,  Pam and Rob picked me up and chauffeured me around Wales. I’m going to put just a couple of pics on FB. Pam and Rob have more and better ones, I think – particularly the one at the top of Snowdon. I found that climb extremely difficult and want everyone to see the dang picture.  Anyway, we stayed in some lovely guest houses/bed and breakfasts, saw some amazing scenery, visited several castles and a prehistoric copper mine. Ate lots of curry, traditional Welsh breakfasts and I had my requisite order of fish-and-chips, minus the chips. Also drank an eclectic collection of local beers.
